Locking Wheel nuts

Something that could be coming to London which has become apparent in the county forces.

Something different from stealing Catalytic Convertors.

Not clear how prolific this actual is yet.

Only report is a small area of the county side villages in the County I reside .

People have found their car doors open or unlocked. On further inspection it appears locking wheel nuts have been stolen along with change or small items left in the car.

Coincidence ????????

Thieves can be using signal amplifiers to unlock cars. This boosts the remote signal on your remote key so they can gain access (You can purchase signal jammer pouches to keep your keys in - Faraday bags). 

This will be a 2 part theft and they could return to steal the wheels.

If you find your car unlocked/door open report it to 101.

Book to have the current bolts removed and a new set fitted (will be a different locking bolt) and report the theft to your insurers, if they do take your wheels they may not pay out if they were not advised on the wheel nuts being stolen. 

Hide the locking wheel nut somewhere obscure in the car so it’s harder for thieves to locate (make sure everyone using the car knows where it is in case you need to change a tyre)

Keep your eyes peeled for anything unusual.
